Deng Xiaoping (1904–1997), a native of Guang'an, Sichuan, is hailed as the "Architect of China's Reform and Opening-Up." He studied in France in his early years, embracing Marxist ideals, and endured three political setbacks before rising to become China’s de facto top leader from 1978 to 1989. He spearheaded economic transformation, abolished lifetime tenure for officials, implemented family planning policies, and introduced the "One Country, Two Systems" framework, laying the foundation for China's modernization. His family also boasts a legendary legacy: his father, Deng Shaochang, participated in the Xinhai Revolution, and his five children have thrived in fields such as arts, politics, and business. Among them, his eldest son, Deng Pufang, served as Chairman of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation; his second son, Deng Zhifang, became an entrepreneur; and his only grandson, Deng Zhuodi, has been active in grassroots politics. Deng Xiaoping’s story is not only a tale of a great leader’s perseverance but also a significant chapter in China’s development history.
